HydroD - downloads and updates
Here you will find the most recent downloads and updates for our HydroD software product.

HydroD v4.4-05 (including Wasim v5.1-01 and Wadam v8.1-09) includes:
- Anchor and TLP elements in Wasim
- Load transfer to composite model in Wasim
- Viscous transfer to composite model in Wasim
- Specify the region of pressure coefficient in Wasim
- Improved user interface for HydroMesh editing
- Create channel/rectangular mesh in HydroMesh
- Increase limit of bodies to 15 in Wadam multi-body
- Auto-detect rotation axis for damaged load cases in stability analysis
- Print of "Waterline Z" (length between draught and centre of rotation) per stability calculation
For installation, you need to install the new HydroD version from our download site. Please note the following: - HydroD will by default be installed to a program version number dependent folder. The user must update any links to HydroD (e.g. in Brix Explorer for Sesam, Sesam Manager or Nauticus Hull) to point to the appropriate HydroD version.
- If you are installing to the same location as a previous installation of HydroD we strongly recommend manually uninstalling the previous version and validating that all files have been removed prior to installing a different version.
- In case you want to recreate old projects in the new HydroD version, you can do so by importing existing journal files. It is recommended that you use the option to create a "clean" journal file in HydroD (this involves discarding the history of modelling)
- Wasim and HydroMesh are installed under C:/Program Files/DNVS/HydroD/bin - multiple versions of Wasim may be installed on the same computer. These programs are automatically installed from the HydroD installation script.
- Wadam is automatically installed by the script to your Sesam home directory (default directory is c:\program files\dnvs\sesam\bin)

HydroD v4.3-04 (including Wasim v4.3-04 and Wadam 8.1-09) includes support for Morison elements for non-linear analysis (Wasim), up to 15 individual bodies in a multibody analysis, 5th order Stokes wave theory on finite depth in addition to infinite depth for non-linear analysis. In addition, the same model as created by GeniE can now be used to define both a panel model and a Morison model - i.e. there is no need anymore to have these as separete superelements: - Morison model in Wasim. The full expression of time domain Morison formula is taken into consideration on the 2D Morison beam elements defined within the Morison model. Pressure area elements are also considered to calculate the Froude-Krylov force and hydrostatic & buoyancy force acting on the Morison model. This feature is only relevant to non-linear analysis since the non-linear drag term of the Morison formula is involved. Please note that the Morison model is not yet considered for the sectional load and load transfer to the structure model.
- 5th order Stokes wave on finite depth in Wasim has been implemented (both with infinite water depth and finite water depth defined in "location"). This feature is only relevant for nonlinear analysis. You are recommended to check the validity of 5th order stokes wave model for very shallow water depth.
- Wave elevation output for Wasim. Wave elevation now can be output in a file. To activate this function, offbody points with a zero z value should be defined in HydroD. The time history of both incoming and total wave elevation at the specified points will be output into a file (*.wel).
- Handling models with unit [mm] in Wasim. The input models (pln file, structural model, etc.) to Wasim can be in units other than meter. To be able to handle models in millimetres, one has to set length database unit as mm in HydroD when defining a new workspace. Please note that all the outputs are in millimetres as well as for the length unit.
- General transformation for Wasim. A general coordinate transformation is introduced in the Wasim mesh activity and damaged cases can now be simulated directly without a transformation pre-processing step.
- Improvements in the HydroDMesh user interface. Users have more flexibilities and possibilities to refine and tune the mesh on free surface.
- A single super element composite model has been implemented for Wadam. This means you do not need to have the panel and Morison model as separate superelements
- It is now possible to run multibody analysis in Wadam with up to 15 bodies
- Support for parallel installations. HydroD will not as before be installed to a default location, but to a program version dependent number. If you choose to use parallel installations, you do not need to un-install the previous version and you can safely access your old projects using the previous version of HydroD. Please be aware that the HydroD installations will use the same Wadam and Wasim versions.
For installation, you need to install the new one from our download site. This will also install a new version of Wasim. Wadam must be manually installed by copying the Wadam version to your Sesam home directory (default value c:\program files\dnvs\sesam\bin). Old projects can be recreated in the new DeepC version by re-running your journal files. You can create a "clean" journal file in HydroD neglecting the history. HydroD version 4.2-04 now gives the user the option to use Wadam or HydroD to compute the mass matrices. It also includes quadratic roll damping in Wadam (this requires that Wadam version 8.1-08 is installed). In case the user has imported the structural model into HydroD, it is now possible to start the linear structural analysis (Sestra) from inside the HydroD user interface. The meshing of free surface for time domain analysis is significantly improved and allows for more user control of the mesh density. Time domain analysis has been extended to also include Stoke's 5th order wave theory for infinite water depth. Finally, when making a sea state it is possible to specify a cut off period for irregular wave conditions. These downloads are available to users with a valid maintenance contract.
